Book an Appointment Online

We have introduced a system to allow patients to book appointments online. This is for routine GP or ANP (Advanced Nurse Practitioner) appointments, blood clinic and also some chronic disease reviews and cervical screenings. If you are interested in using this service please see a member of the reception team for more information and to obtain a password.

If you have already registered to use online appointments and have a username and password you can access the service via the link below.

Please note – all routine appointments are at ten minute intervals.

SecureTelephone

Call in or telephone Whalley on 01254 919888 between 8.00am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday to make an appointment at either site.  If you wish to contact Sabden Health Centre directly you can telephone on 01282 772045. If Sabden Health Centre is closed the telephone call will automatically divert to Whalley.

You may make an appointment with any of the GPs. Appointments for routine consultations can be booked in advance. Children under two years are always offered same day appointments.

Our patient’s charter states that we try to see patients within twenty minutes of their appointment time. If we cannot do so then a reasonable explanation must be given for the delay. It is often difficult for the doctors to keep to their schedules due to unforeseen emergencies or problems in the surgery, though every effort is made to keep appointments to time; if however, you feel you have been waiting for an unreasonable amount of time, please speak to the receptionist.

Please note – all routine appointments are at ten minute intervals.

To help with the smooth running of the surgery we would be grateful if patients could consider the following;-

  • Appointments are made for one person, if other members of the family need to consult the doctor, please make a separate appointment.
  • There is only sufficient time to discuss one problem per appointment, if you need more time or have more than one thing to discuss please inform the receptionist when making the appointment.
  • Urgent cases will be seen the same day, but not always by your own Doctor.
  • Please only request a home visit if it is absolutely necessary – you may be asked to speak to a nurse before a home visit is arranged.
  • Please inform the practice if you are unable to keep your appointment, so that it can be offered to other people.
  • Please give the receptionist as much information about your condition as possible, so that they can help you decide the best treatment

Telephone Appointments

We also offer a service for patients to book a telephone appointment with the Doctor or Nurse. The receptionist will give you an appointment time when the Doctor or Nurse can telephone you.

Please bear in mind that you will be booked into the Doctor or Nurse’s surgery and therefore if the surgery overruns then your telephone appointment could be a few minutes late.

Urgent Appointments

The surgery is closed after 6.30pm each evening, the weekend and bank holidays. If you need a doctor urgently at these times telephone 111 for the out of hours service. You will be offered advice, a home visit or be asked to attend the emergency centre at the hospital. In emergencies an ambulance can be summoned by dialling 999.

Home Visits

If you are too unwell to come to the surgery you can arrange a home visit by telephoning 01254 919888 (Whalley) or 01282 772045 (Sabden). All house calls for that day should be telephoned in before 10.30am so that the doctors may plan their rounds before leaving the surgery. Explaining the symptoms, if at all possible, to the receptionist will also help the doctor to see the most urgent cases first. One doctor from the practice will be ‘on call’ for the rest of the day to deal with any emergency visits which may arise. As you no doubt appreciate, this practice covers a very large area, so any requests which come in after 10.30am should be of an urgent nature only.

Chaperones

If you would like a chaperone to be present during a physical examination/consultation, please advise the receptionist when booking your appointment or when checking in.
