Vaccine Eligibility
Covid-19 vaccine
It is recommended that you receive your covid-19 vaccine if you are:
- Aged 75 or over
- Aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition.
- Live in a care home for older adults.
Seasonal influenza vaccine
It is recommended that you receive your seasonal influenza vaccine if you are:
Adults:
- Aged 65 and over
- Have certain health conditions
- Are pregnant
Children:
- Are aged 2 or 3
- Children aged 2 to 17 with certain long-term health conditions
Shingles vaccine
It is recommended that you receive your shingles vaccine if you are:
People who turn 65 on or after 1st September 2023
From the 1st September 2023, you are eligible for the shingles vaccine when you turn 65.
You will be offered 2 doses of the vaccine. The are given between 6 and 12 months apart.
(You will remain eligible until your 80th birthday (but you can have your 2nd dose up until your 81st birthday).
People aged 70 to 79
Everyone aged 70 to 79 is eligible for the shingles vaccine.
You will be offered 2 doses of the vaccine. These are given between 6 and 12 months apart.
People aged 50 and over with a severely weakened immune system
You are eligible for the shingles vaccine if you are aged 50 or over and you are at a higher risk from shingles because you have a severely weakened immune system.
This includes:
- Some people with blood cancers (such as leukaemia or lymphoma)
- Some people with HIV or AIDS
- Some people who have recently had a stem cell transplant, radiotherapy, chemotherapy or an organ transplant
- People taking certain medicines that severely weaken the immune system
You will be given 2 doses of the shingles vaccine. These are given between 8 weeks and 6 months apart.
RSV vaccine
It is recommended that you receive the RSV vaccine if:
- You are pregnant (from 28 weeks onwards)
- You are aged 75 to 79
