UPDATE OCTOBER 2021
Sabden and Whalley Medical Group continue to offer face-to-face appointments. For the safety of all, the clinicians continue to wear PPE (personal, protective equipment) and clean the rooms, wiping door handles and chairs in between patient appointments. We would ask that patients wear a face mask while in the surgery in order to protect themselves, others and staff members, unless exempt.
The care navigator will ask you about your symptoms when booking an appointment. If you have Coronavirus symptoms, you will be asked to go for a PCR test before seeing the GP. Unfortunately, it is possible to contract COVID-19 more than once and also after being vaccinated. You should still have a PCR test if you are displaying any symptoms. A lateral flow test should only be used when there are no symptoms. If you are acutely unwell, you will be offered a telephone appointment with the GP instead.
All appointments with a GP are in person, unless you would rather speak over the telephone and do not feel an examination is necessary. Please inform the receptionist of this when you book.
As the pandemic continues, we ask for your continued support in maintaining the safety of all patients and surgery staff. Please do not come down to the surgery if you have COVID symptoms, but call us on the phone. We understand that the situation is challenging for everyone in different ways and we appreciate that it can be frustrating sometimes. Unfortunately a number of our staff have experienced foul and abusive language or behaviour from a minority of patients. This is not acceptable and we will not tolerate this sort of behaviour towards our staff – all of whom continue to work tirelessly during this pandemic.
In line with our zero tolerance policy, if you are found to be abusive towards members of staff then appropriate action will be taken. You can read the full policy below.
